A new 313,000 sf technical high school on an existing occupied campus. Coordination between the old and new buildings required collaboration on site logistics, abatement/demolition, student access/transportation, parking and a phased move in. Project included classrooms, science labs, cafeteria, two kitchens (one for culinary arts), dental clinic, administrative offices, automotive, machine, sheet metal fabrication, plumbing, carpentry and electrical shops, separate horticultural building, green house, parking and athletic fields. Morganti was able to deliver a Guaranteed Maximum Price $13 Million lower than the original budget. A close working relationship with the city led to cost control and the increased hiring of local subcontractors. Of the $87.3 million set aside for construction, at least half went to local area contractors. This building has been designed and constructed to meet Massachusetts’s CHPS School designation.
