A new 122,000 SF Science Center for Western Connecticut State University. This is the state’s first environmentally responsible building project to be designed and constructed for USGBC LEED Silver Certification. This sustainable building houses the biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy and meteorology departments and includes classrooms, research laboratories (Boehringer Ingleheim Biochemistry Lab), a lecture auditorium, green house, observatory and the WCSU Weather Center. Highlights include a rooftop observatory and 60,000 SF of Physics, Biology and Meteorology Labs. The project features a Morganti implemented Integrated Web-based Management System, which was the first to be utilized on a DPW project. Morganti was also responsible for the commissioning of the buildings MEP systems. Project contingency was utilized to increase scope.
